“I get to ride him tonight. It'll be so much fun, you should come and watch.” She sulks.
“Of course. I'd love to see how you handle this horse in front of everyone.”
“Don't look now but Elliott is coming.” She smiles. It takes a lot of my self control not to look behind me not because I feel some way about Eliott but because when you tell someone not to look behind, they're going to look even if they weren't planning on it.
I feel Eliott's footsteps come to a halt when he stands next to Mirabelle, brushing her horse. “Wow Moon, that was fast.” He says, implying how quickly she tamed her house.
“I'm a natural, now please move before you confuse him and ruin my hard work, I need him to function out of character for everyone but me.” She says stroking the horse.
Elliott raises his hands and moon walks away from the horse, making us laugh. “Umm, Camilla. Sorry I was weird at the movies, I just got nervous because I like you and I can't seem to think straight, the wrong words come out so I had to get a little high to man up to you.” He sucks in a whiff, “May I please take you out to dinner?”
My jaw drops, I glance between him and Mirabelle who seems to be brandishing a laugh. His request takes me by surprise. When I don't respond for a minute, he scratches his head. “Sorry, forget I said anything.” He says walking out.
“Eliott come back.”
He turns around and looks at me, I look between him and Mirabelle before resting on him. “I am sorry if I seemed.. Weird but I wasn't expecting you to say that to me but I would love to go out with you, as friends.”
He nods, “Yea, as friends. Let me know when you're free? ”
“She's free right now.” Mirabelle blurt's, “Why don't you two go out now.” She smiles.
Damn it Mirabelle, I am not mentally prepared for a date.
Elliot's gaze shifts from her to me and I force a smile, draining all emotion from my face. “If it's alright with you.”
“Sure, I will get changed.”
“No, you look great. You don't have to change.” He smile's, his eyes swiftly wandering over my body before his gaze shifts to something safer, the horse.
Hoping I don't catch him gaping or feel uncomfortable. Well played.
“Umm, I guess I will be seeing you later.” I frown at Mirabelle, and she winks.
Maybe this is what I need to get my mind off Adrian for awhile, Elliott seems nice and I'd hate if I didn't give us a chance to be friends at the very least.
Holding out his hand he grins. “Shall we?”
“Yes.” I smile, putting my hand in his. Let's see where this takes us.
**********
Dinner with Elliott was a breath of fresh air, he couldn't stop stealing glances at my tits but I excused him because I discovered my dress was making it difficult not to, not only was he gawking, I noticed a few other men gaping at me.
Elliott took me somewhere close by, it was a walkable distance. Next to it is an arcade, where we went to play games until the owner's decided to lock up. I lost track of time because I was having fun with him. He was funny, sweet and patient with me. He also seemed to want to listen to me talk about myself. I told him I didn't know myself and he said when I figured it out, he'd love to hear about me.
Elliott walked me back to the pack house, we sat by the fountain and talked a little more. I don't know if it's because he was high but he opened up to me about how he feels second to his brother in everything. I told him it doesn't have to be competition, competition between siblings never ends well, I've witnessed a tragic ending to such a situation.
My phone lights up in my hand. I have been ignoring it all night. At first Mirabelle was texting, then Racheal and it was distracting me so I had put it on silent.
“You should check that, it must be important.” Elliott says, noticing my phone.
“Right.” I smirk, picking it up. I have a lot of messages and missed calls. I opened the latest one.
Michelle: Where are you kiddo?
I promptly type in a reply.
Camilla: Outside, I will be in shortly.
I press send and turn to Elliott. “Sorry, my sister needs me.”
“I had fun Camilla.” He smiles. I return his smile before standing up, to get on his feet.
“Camilla, wait.”
I stop in my movement and he stands in front of me, leaning into me. Everything moves fast, his lips touch mine and I freeze momentarily, before kissing him back.
His lips are cold, he tastes of the blueberries and raspberries, the flavor of his ice cream dessert. I feel nonentity as we kiss, my mind drifts back to my kiss with Alpha Adrian, how it made my stomach flutter and all. When Elliott pulls back he is smiling.
“I had fun tonight Elliott but I don't think this..” I motion between us. “It's moving too fast.” I admit.
“I know, I just couldn't help myself. I'm sorry but I would have gone home regretting it if I didn't kiss you. I hope I didn't ruin my shot?”
Frankly speaking, I don't even know if he had or has one.
“See you.” I faintly smile, making my escape. I shouldn't call it that but it is what it is.
When I'm at the door, I wave back at him. Entering inside, I encounter Michelle, she's standing on the staircases, three steps in with a hand on her now visibly pregnant belly and the other one holding a yoghurt bottle. When she notices me, she lets out a sigh. I know her well enough to understand what she feels for me is second to what she feels for this pack. She wasn't worried about me, was she?
“Where did you go?” She asks in a flat tone.
“I was out wi...ith a friend.” I stutter. She's making me uneasy with the way she's acting.
“I am responsible for you, I might not care for Dark Moon anymore but for Mom and Dad, I have to take care of you. And for Alpha Adrian too because he asked me to. So you see I'm torn between two parts yet with one tremendous responsibility, You. ” She glowers. “I trusted you were smart enough to handle yourself but looks like you can't...” She stops to take her phone out of her pocket, looking at it she shakes her head.
She puts it back in her pocket and peers up at me. “Look kiddo, I don't know what game it is that you think you are playing with Alpha Adrian but he doesn't play games, he formulates them and you play by his rules whether you like it or not.”
I look at her with clear confusion, “I don't infer... a game?”
Michelle rolls her eyes, as she straightens. “I don't know who is putting ideas in your head, but stop. Alpha Adrian will ruin you, you're not Luna material so stop aiming. You might think I'm being a bitch to you and I am but for you. I do care about you. I don't know why but I do, but my loyalty comes first and it lies with Alpha Adrian.”
I nod, not knowing what to do or say, I haven't played any game with him and I don't plan to. She lets out a sigh and rolls her eyes at me like she can't believe it. “I don't want to be penalised for your stupidity. Go, Alpha Adrian wants to see you.”
My eyes widen, my heart already racing as I gasp. “Me? Why? ”
“Wow, you really are just... Wow.” She giggles. “I don't know, he just told me to let you know when you come.”
“Okay.” I say taking my first step on the staircase.
“Hmm, Camilla, good luck and goodnight.” She smirks. It's forced, her smile is forced. She's trying to suppress some distress that flashes on her face when she's oblivious to her grimacing.
I dismiss her and make my way to Alpha Adrian, I knock on his door, which is slightly open, he shouts for me to come in. I stride in, calculating each step just in case he's as pissed as Michelle was.
“Camilla.”
