Kōdo Ikusei Senior High School is a prestigious institution renowned for its exceptional facilities and near-perfect record of student placement into universities or employment. The school promotes a liberal atmosphere where students enjoy freedom in their appearance and personal belongings, presenting itself as a paradise for education. However, this facade masks a harsh reality: only the most elite students receive genuine favorable treatment. Kiyotaka Ayanokōji finds himself assigned to D-class, the school's dumping ground for academically inferior students designated for ridicule and isolation. His placement stems from a careless performance on his entrance examination. When Kiyotaka encounters two fellow D-class students, Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, his circumstances begin to transform. Through these new connections, his school experience and social standing start to shift in unexpected ways.
