Rosen awakened to a Class D hero template in a class where everyone else obtained Class A or higher, making him the target of relentless online harassment. However, his Class D template proves to be a rare growth-type ability that appears once in a thousand years. While others possess powerful fixed S-level templates limited to a single skill, Rosen's Class D transform ability rivals theirs. As he levels up from D to C, he unlocks new and increasingly powerful skills. With each rank increase, his form evolves, transforming into creatures resembling beings from the Classic of Mountains and Seas. Dismissed by his school's teacher and principal who fail to recognize his potential, Rosen is forced to drop out. To earn currency for Awakening Stones, he takes a job at a crematorium. A month into his employment, other organizations begin attacking his former classmates, and Rosen discovers the bodies of his Class A and S-level peers arriving at the crematorium.
