The Author's POV Novel

The protagonist of a story is a figure of ultimate success: beloved, victorious, and feared by all antagonists. However, the narrator of "The Author's POV" is not this idealized hero. Instead, a failed author, whose career peaked with a single success, has reincarnated into his own late novel. He initially believes he might become the protagonist, but quickly realizes he has been reborn as a mere mob character. This revelation brings him immense relief. He is not the center of the world, no girls flock to him, and cheat items do not seek him out. He rejoices at avoiding the protagonist's life, particularly because he remembers a crucial detail: protagonists are "calamity magnets." Having recently experienced the unpleasantness of death, his sole desire is to live a long, stable life, for which he thanks his unknown reincarnator. Yet, he ominously hints that he will later come to regret this wish.
