Chapter 56

44.1

'A night to remember.'

It was a tiring walk we made to get here to the very top of Mt. Binabag. The tiredness disappeared immediately when I saw the beautiful scenery here. We could see the whole city and we arrived just right because we could see the sunset which was so beautiful.

Wrum’s decision to let us come here was a good idea. No one else is here, just Wrum and I, that made it more exciting. He probably didn't rent the whole mountain for one night so that we could just stay here tonight.

A few moments later, the whole city we saw suddenly opened their lights, I mean they light it up that made the whole city became brighter.

This place is beautiful. Away from the city, fresh air can be breathed and there is even a beautiful view.

I turned my gaze to my back and saw Wrum had already set up the tent for our temporary shelter. He had already unloaded the carrying bag with food, a survival kit, and whatever other things to carry.

"What do you think about the place?" Wrum asked me as he stepped closer to where I was standing. "Such a beautiful view, right?"

I nodded. "Yeah," my sparing answer. The air touches my skin and feels the coldness of it.

"Let's eat first," he said and walked it again towards the tent. "We bought some food there at a fast-food chain," he added.

I just saw him take a towel. He laid it on the ground. I approached him and sat down next to him, then he handed me the food.

"Thank you," I said.

I opened the packed lunch, then started eating. Wrum told me a lot, but I didn’t listen to it. I can't be bothered right now. I couldn’t help but think of my parents.

"Hey. Are you listening to me?" Wrum asked me.

I blinked a few times. "Did you tell me anything?" I will ask. I don't know what he told me. I didn't listen to him either.

"Nevermind. Are you thinking about your family again?" he asked like he read my mind again.

"I just can't help it. It spontaneously enters my mind." explaining at him, tears almost form in my eyes, but at least it didn't fall from my face. He might say, I am too weak and can't stand on my own feet.

"We're here to relax, not to think about problems that can't make us relax," he replied putting the packed lunch on the towel.

"I tried my best to relax my mind," I said. "Not to think about them for now."

He averted his gaze from me and turned to the scenery. "You shouldn't think about them. Because I did everything just to save them," he added.

"You're lucky that you have me. The man who did his best just to make his girl happy." Right, I am lucky that I have him and I know that. Can't look for me I did not become his slave.

He looks like a fool. My goodness. My stomach is tickling again. Should I have shuddered at what he was telling me? Damn him.

"Why would I be lucky to have you?" I asked him. "I am just your slave. Even if we turn the world upside down, that will not change."

"I told you already that you are just not a slave for me." that made me paused for a moment.

Okay, I didn't think about my family this time but I would go crazy if that's exactly what he was telling me.

I am just a slave. That will never change.

I lay down inside the tent as it opened. Wrum was by my side as we both just stared at the stars in the sky. Earlier, we had fun chatting outside during a campfire. At least, I forgot temporarily my problem because of Wrum. He made me feel right now that I am not just a slave to him.

Crickets in the dark, leaf noises due to the wind were all we could hear because of the silence that enveloped Wrum and me.

"Silic." he broke the silence between us.

"Hmm?" I asked him still, my stare remains at the starry sky.

"Are not you scared?" he asked me. I didn't know what he wanted to tell me though.

Maybe, he just wanted to indicate if I was scared because it was already dark and we were the only two here. Maybe that’s what he wanted to tell me. I turned my gaze to him and I also saw that he was looking at me. Our lips are almost touching because of their closeness.

"I'm not scared of it." I just told him and immediately avoided looking at him. My God. The closeness of his face to mine. "There's probably no bad people around either. Unless there's a snake or some other wild animal there that bites us."

"That's not what I mean," he said.

"Then, what do you mean?" I am confused about what he wanted to convey.

"Aren't you afraid because I'm Don Guillermo's son? Aren't you afraid that I might just be on their side?" he asked in succession. "Or else, aren't you afraid to give me your trust?"

I no longer hesitate. Since I have already given him my trust, I need to trust him. He probably won't break the trust I gave him.

"Why would I? I trust you. I gave you my trust and I know you won't destroy it." I said. "I know you will help me get my parents out of Don Guillermo's hands."

He didn't immediately respond to what I told him and he just looked at my face. Pretty and hundred percent sure my face doesn't have any dirt on my face.

"You trust me, means you love me." he stammered and I was just surprised.

"I didn't say that." OMG! Haven't mentioned anything about that.

"But I want to take it as you love me 'cause your mine," he added. As far as I know, I owned myself, no one other person owns me. "I don't want you to love another man."

"Stop," I said at once avoiding him. I was about to stand up to get out of the tent but he suddenly stopped me.

He brought his face close to mine. He looked at my lips and for a while, I just felt that he kissed me.

My heart beats so fast. He's always like this when he does it to me while my cheeks are warming.

He brought his lip to my ear, and he whispered.

"Jet aime."
