Chapter 60

I hear birds chirping outside as rays of the sun seeped through my window. I yawned and got out of my bed. Custard and Viex were still sleeping on my pillow and were covering their ears. I smiled and covered them with my blanket.

The birds still continued to chirp as I headed for my balcony. I opened my balcony door and welcomed the cold breeze of the morning air. I took in a deep breath and exhaled as I lean onto the railing.

Still, the birds continued to chirp. I smiled and blinked slowly as if I was in a trance.

The bright and cheery songs of the birds were forcing a song out of me. And that’s what I did. I started singing. “Do Re Me Fa SO….FUCKING SHUT UP YOU DAMN BIRDS! TWEET TWEET MY ASS! GO TAKE YOUR STUPID TWEET TWEET ELSEWHERE!” I screamed bloody murder as I took off my slipper and hurled each of them blindly to towards the trees.

Seriously! It was the first time that I got a proper sleep since we went on our journey to find the damn chalice. All we want to do right now is get some rest!

We arrived back in Thalia about 1 hour before midnight. The queen and king were already asleep so we decided to meet them tomorrow - which is now.

I was planning to get some more relaxing sleep until these stupid tweeters started chirping!

I was in a pretty foul mood right now that I was hysterical. “COME BACK AND FACE ME YOU FLYING CHICKENS! TWEET TWEET TWEET!” I huffed one last time before I went back and shut the balcony door and pulled the curtains back. Then I went back to my bed and started to close my eyes.

Unfortunately, there was a knock on my door that I gritted my teeth in annoyance. “Yes?” I answered. Custard and Viex shifted sleepily on my pillow as my door opened.

“Princess, we heard that you are awake. The Queen insists that you and the princes join her for breakfast. Shall we assist you?”

I took in a deep breath. A really really deep breath to calm my nerves, because right now, I was going to erupt like a volcano. I let out a very girly and plastic laugh. “Yes of course.” I cheerfully said even though I didn’t mean it that my voice a pitch higher as I said it.

Stupid birds. I will no longer scold Custard whenever he decides to chase them from now on. I would even throw in Viex as a bonus.

Three maids came and assisted me in bathing. Of course, I brought in Viex and Custard with me because they did not even wash up last night. The maids and I struggled just to keep the both of them in the water that when we were done, it looked like someone was murdered in my bathroom.

I chose a white puffed sleeved dress where the hem ends between my knees and angles. “Come on you two.” I told them as I got the leather bag with the chalice from under my bed. Then I thought about it. Maybe I should take this later. I looked at the room to make sure that the maids were no longer here before I opened a secret compartment from under my bed to hide it. I just discovered this compartment when I was secretly hiding food from the princes when they almost banned me from eating sweets to improve my stamina. Once it was secured, I stood up to look down at Viex with my hands placed on my hips. “Stop pouting. It’s just water. You guys bathe in the spring!”

‘I hate soap!’ Viex hissed.

“Viex, you were smelly. At least you now smell like rainbows and sunshine.”

‘How do you know what rainbows and sunshine smell like?’ He questioned me.

“I-Don’t ask me ridiculous questions!” I blushed as I had no answer to give him. I turned around and immediately headed for the door. I could hear Viex chuckled behind me before he followed.

Custard and Viex ran ahead as soon as I opened the door. I envy the two because they seem to have a lot of energy this early in the morning. I yawned just as I entered the dining area. “Good morning.” I said and rubbed my eyes sleepily. As usual, I was the last one to arrive. The rest of them were already seated in front of the table.

“Rosalie.” The queen frowned. “Mind your manners.”

In response to her, I blinked and smiled sleepily as I made my way to the seat next to her. “I no longer need manners. I have evolved from being a princess to becoming a goddess.” I said as I sat down.

“What?”

“Nothing.” I quickly said and rubbed my hands together eagerly as I starred at all the bacon and egg on the table. “Can we eat now?” I looked at her pleadingly.

The Queen had a resigned look on her face, but she gestured for me to eat. I was the first one to dive on the table and placed some eggs and bacon on my plate. It was been a while since I ate some good meat! The time that we were in the spirit realm with Serena, all we had was fruits!

Viex and Custard hoped on my lap that I almost dropped my fork in surprise. ‘Where’s ours?’ Viex asked.

‘Master, I want one too.’

Nate, who was seated at my other side, called for the maids to prepare some bowls for my two familiars. “In a minute guys. You’ll get yours.” Nate told them.

I heard a gasp at my other side and turned to see the Queen looking at Viex with wide eyes. “Viex? Viex, is that you?”

At the mention of his name, Viex turned to the queen and cocked his head to the side. ‘Well, look who it is. The little shrimp Liz. I guess I can’t call her a shrimp anymore.’

I was thankful that the queen did not understand Viex because I don’t even know what might happen if she does. “You know him?”

“Of course I know him. He’s the guardian of the previous kings and queens of Gija!”

I glanced down at Viex to see him meeting my gaze as well. Right. I almost forgot about that fact.

“He seems different though. I guess that would mean that you have formed a contract with him. He usually takes on different forms depending on the tamer.” The queen explained. Her eyes still fixed on Viex. “How did you find him?”

I bit the inside of my lower lip. How do I tell her that we fell down a cliff and accidentally destroyed the sanctuary where Viex was held captive?

I glanced at the princes for help. They all avoided my gaze.

Cowards.

“Coincidence. Let’s just say that it is a secret.” I said and shoved food in my mouth so she would no longer ask me any questions.

“You ran into an accident, didn’t you?” She suspected. I averted my gaze and continued to eat. “Figures.” She mumbled before shifting her gaze to Custard. “It’s good to see that you have changed as well, Custard. You lot stronger.”

Custard wagged his tail at her words and let out a cheerful yip.

‘Who is he?’ VIex suddenly asked. I followed his gaze and saw that he was starring at King Luke.

‘That’s the queen’s husband.’ It was Custard who answered him. When he noticed that Viex was still staring, he uses his paw to cover Viex’s eyes. ‘Stop starring at him. That is rude.’

Viex hissed and Custard and slapped his paw with his two tails. ‘I was just looking at him because he seems familiar! Mind your own business, mutt!’

“Hey.” I scolded them. “Stop fighting while you two are sitting on my lap while I am eating.” I scolded them.

‘Sorry.’ They both said.

The maids were thankfully back with their share of the meal. Nate grabbed them both and placed him at his vacant side so they would have their own space to eat.

‘Princess.’

‘Yes, Viex?’

‘King Luke. What is he?’

I blinked. Actually, I wasn’t sure. ‘A fairy. I think. Why?’

There was a pause. ‘Nothing. I was just curious what kind of man married that shrimp Liz.’

Again. I was thankful that no one could understand them other than me.

“Later, I would like to hear more about your adventures.” The queen said excitedly. “I want to know what you’ve seen and how you acquired the chalice.”

“The princes could tell you right now.” I offered for them and gave them all a victorious grin as I passed down that responsibility to them. “But spoiler alert. Terrence is alive.”

“Terrence!?” The King and Queen gasped. The Queen shook her head. “I feel like this is going to be a really long story.”

“Yes.” Ace confirmed and fixed his gaze on me viciously. “And we will tell your highness, everything that happened. Every. Last. One.”

Ren, who was sitting beside him, laughed. “I bet not even your divine powers can save you now, GODDESS.”

“Divine powers? Goddess!? What?” The queen looked confused while the king was speechless.

I glared daggers at them and threatened them with my fork when a maid came in carrying a letter. “Your highness, this letter came from the Kingdom of Hazel.”

My ears perked up at the name of the kingdom. I even attempted to peak at the letter when the queen opened it. She gave me a look that made me back down and smile innocently at her. “In a minute, Rose. I am still reading.”

“I can read it for you.” I offered.

“Don’t you have enough letters from Prince Fred already? Sit down or I won’t tell you what it says.” She scolded me.

“Fine.” I sighed ad slumped on my seat.

I watched and waited as the queen read the letter. As she did, a proud smile appeared on her lips. At this point, I was dying to know what it says that I held my breath as soon as she set the letter down.

“Well, good news.” At her words, we all leaned in to get a better hearing. “Prince Fred is going to be crowned as king soon. And he is inviting all of us for his coronation.”
